No White Cast

Blends easily into Indian skin tones without leaving a chalky appearance.

 Active Natural Repair:

While mineral and organic filters block incoming UV rays, turmeric soothes sunburn and carrot seed oil helps fade pre-existing sun spots.

 The Tan Removal Struggle

Sun exposure is inevitable, but uneven skin tone, dullness, and dark patches don't have to be. While traditional homemade ubtan blends are legendary for removing tans, spending hours grinding spices and dealing with the resulting mess isn't practical for a busy daily routine. Enter modern Ayurvedic solutions like Mamaearth’s Ubtan and Carrot Seed ranges. Designed to gently exfoliate, repair UV damage, and restore clarity, these formulas offer a hassle-free way to maintain radiant, healthy skin.

How the key ingredients works

*Turmeric
Acting as a natural glow booster, turmeric contains curcumin—a powerful antioxidant that combats free radicals, calms redness, and increases circulation to bring out your natural, inner glow.

*Carrot Seed Oil:
Rich in vitamins A and E, it replenishes skin with essential nutrients, repairs cellular damage, and promotes cellular turnover. This means that fresh, healthy skin cells replace old, tired cells faster, leaving you with a smooth surface that reflects light beautifully.

*Niacinamide & Saffron (Bonus Actives):

Often found in these formulas, they actively refine skin texture and fade dark spots, ensuring your glow radiates across your entire face.

What makes this particular combination of ingredients so powerful against a tan?

  • Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful antioxidant that actively fights hyperpigmentation caused by UV rays and reduces inflammation.
  • Rich in vitamins A and E, carrot seed oil acts as a natural sun-damage repair agent, promoting cell turnover to replace tanned, dead skin cells with fresh ones.
  • Walnut beads and saffron (found in the face wash and scrub) physically lift the top layer of tanned, dead skin, allowing active botanicals to penetrate deeply for quick results.

Why is protection against both UVA and UVB rays important?

UVA vs. UVB Protection: The Science Behind Mamaearth’s Carrot Seed & Turmeric Sunscreen

SPF 50 (UVB Protection):

SPF measures protection against UVB rays – the main culprit behind sunburn, surface tanning, and redness. SPF 50 filters out approximately 98% of harmful UVB rays, giving your skin external defense.

PA+++/PA++++ (UVA Protection):

The PA rating measures protection against UVA rays.
UVA rays penetrate deep into the dermis, causing long-term damage such as premature aging, stubborn hyperpigmentation, and loss of skin elasticity. A high PA rating ensures that these deeper rays are blocked.

Best usage advice

   Golden Rule: Apply sunscreen daily.
Important Tip: Exfoliating dead skin cells reveals fresh, new skin that is even more sensitive to UV rays. Always follow up your de-tanning routine each morning with a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), even if you are staying indoors.
Nighttime recovery works best.
Applying your de-tan face pack or intensive treatment in the evening allows ingredients like carrot seed oil and turmeric to repair skin cells overnight, without immediate exposure to harsh sunlight or atmospheric pollution.

My Experience with Mamaearth Carrot Seed Oil & Turmeric Sunscreen

I have been using Mamaearth Carrot Seed Oil and Turmeric Sunscreen regularly as part of my morning skin care routine.
One of the first things I noticed was its lightweight texture. It spreads easily, absorbs quickly, and feels non-greasy on my skin.
With regular use, I found it comfortable to wear every day, whether at work or out.
Overall, my experience was positive. If you're looking for a lightweight sunscreen for daily use, this is a good option. Keep in mind that results may vary depending on your skin type.

Great sunscreen. Treated my wife's melasma within one tube. Great sunscreen if vou have dry skin. Not for sensitive combination skin it feels heavy. And if your melasma is triggered by sun I would def recommend using this sunscreen 70 percent will be treated by it only. Good for mature skin.

If u really need a good review read this Reviewed in India on 5 February 2021

So u see.... I watch a lot of review videos before buying any skincare products so this sunscreen was reviewed by a lot of youtuber and I felt like trying it out...

So here's my first impression

1.scent is really good
2. Doesn't give a white cast (maybe if u apply a lot there is a chance of getting it
3.non greasy look ( greasy when u apply it but qoes of within 2min)
4. no harmful chemicals (doesn't mean that but still there are some which are ok to be 5.spf 50 PA+++ best recommend

And here comes what I felt bad about..

1. A bit pricey for me
2. it does have some chemicals which is ok
3. It doesn't have the combo of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide ( for those who don't know this combo is gonna make the best protection form UVA and UVB)
Finally I still don't know about the sun protection coz I'm giving my first impression on my first use mavbe after 2to 3 times of use I may be able to give review abt the sun protection which is the main thing but be sure that if u apply a sunscreen and stand for hours and hours in the sun and then get tanned and throw the sunscreen out NO NO No please don't NONE OF THE SUNSCREENS in the market is gonna help that.Obviously ur going to tanned but u can try washing it off immediately after sun exposure or use a sun tan remover face pack this came from my research but anyways hope u found this helpful.

No, it is specifically formulated to blend seamlessly into Indian skin tones without leaving a heavy, chalky, or white cast.

2. Is this sunscreen suitable for humid and tropical climates?

Yes, its lightweight formula absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a heavy, greasy, or sticky residue, making it ideal for hot and humid weather.

3. How do Turmeric and Carrot Seed Oil help with sun damage?

Turmeric contains curcumin, an antioxidant that calms inflammation and fights hyperpigmentation. Carrot Seed Oil is rich in Vitamins A and E, promoting cellular turnover to fade old sun spots.

4. What is the difference between SPF 50 and PA+++ ratings in this sunscreen?

SPF 50 protects against UVB rays which cause surface sunburns and tanning, while PA+++/PA++++ ratings block deep-penetrating UVA rays responsible for premature aging and persistent dark spots.

5. Is this sunscreen good for dry skin and mature skin?

Yes, feedback highlights that it works exceptionally well on dry and mature skin types by delivering hydration while shielding against sun-induced damage.

6. Can this sunscreen help with melasma?

While individual results vary, customer reviews indicate that consistent broad-spectrum protection helps prevent sun-triggered melasma flare-ups and fade dark patches over time.

7. Is it suitable for sensitive or combination skin types?

It can suit combination skin, but some users with sensitive combination skin may find it a bit heavy. Performing a patch test prior to full application is recommended.

8. Should I apply sunscreen if I stay indoors?

Yes, broad-spectrum sunscreen should be applied every morning even indoors, as UVA rays can penetrate glass windows and worsen skin pigmentation.

9. Does exfoliating make your skin more sensitive to the sun?

Exfoliating removes dead skin cells to reveal fresh skin, which is naturally more sensitive to UV light. Always follow up your de-tanning routine with a high-SPF sunscreen.

10. Can any sunscreen completely prevent tanning if exposed to harsh sun for hours?

No sunscreen provides 100% protection during prolonged sun exposure. Washing skin promptly after exposure and using gentle de-tan treatments can help keep skin even-toned.
